Mice & Rats - How to Exterminate Them From Your Home
The first evidence of mice and rats is usually noise from foraging, droppings or damage from gnawing. The droppings from Norway rats and Roof rats are about 3/8 inch to 7/16 inch, oval shaped and look like tiny footballs. Droppings from mice are significantly smaller 3/16 inch to 1/4 inch in length, black and look like rice. You can find droppings anywhere they forage, in drawers, cabinets, or on the table next to your Flying Pheasant Lamp.
Steps
Lamp Tables With Drawers
Step One: Measure the linear footage of your house or structure to be treated. The average 40' x 24' home will need at least 20 repackaged bait stations. Buy at least 15 packets or boxes of rodent bait. I do not recommend you buy a 10 pound container, you will never use half of it. Find the "Active Ingredients" on the package, Preferably 0.005% brodifacoum or equivalent from you local pest control or hardware store. Buy the least expensive sandwich bags at the grocery store.
Step Two: Acquire a step ladder and a flashlight may be handy. Empty packets of rodent bait in a clean dry bucket. By doing this you stretch your dollar. There is too much bait in those packets for one station. Put two rounded tablespoons of rodent bait in each plastic bag until all the bait is gone. Put 3 rounded tablespoons if it is rats. You want at least 20 repackaged bait bags for the average 40' x 24' home. The average home being a house with a cellar, living area and attic.
Step Three: Place one bag of rodent bait at 10 foot intervals on the cellar ledge or mud sill. Preferably behind the insulation or in such a way it can not fall to the floor. Place the bait OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN AND DOMESTIC PETS. In the attic toss the bags around the perimeter at 10 foot intervals.
Warnings and Tips
In their own environment mice have a foraging range of only 10 feet from their nest. Rats have a much larger foraging range. To prevent future problems repair any entrances 3/8 inch or larger. Repair any holes in fieldstone foundations or other obvious entrance areas. Stuff fine steel wool up the corners of the structure. You will start to get results in 4 to 5 days but allow 30 days for the problem to clear up. Rebait as necessary.
For foul odor, find and remove any bodies and use a masking agent, i.e. moth balls until odor subsides. It is better to have a little foul odor than to have live mice or rats. They gnaw on everything, including electrical wiring. Their teeth continuously grow, so they have to gnaw to keep their teeth a certain length so they can feed. When moving insulation wear a dust mask to prevent breathing in of dust and fibers. Washs hand before preparing food or eating.
Packing Up Your Bedroom Before You Move
Each room in your home will have special packing needs for your move. Every room is unique. It is important to have all of your packing materials present in or near the room to pack properly. You will need cardboard boxes, strong packing tape, preferably plastic masking tape, bubble wrap, shrink wrap, maybe even some twine or rope. There may be other materials you have around the house that you want to use as packing materials. You will also want to be sure that you have a good set of markers so that you can label all of your belongings and certainly you boxes. You might not be able to pack everything in the room right away since certain items or furniture can't be packed till the last minute. However, it is still important to have the packing materials available for when you will need them.
Your bedroom or really any of the bedrooms in your home will include certain items. Most likely this will include a bed, dresser, probably a desk, chair and book shelves, free standing or table lamps, clothing, books and most likely electronics.
Lamp Tables With Drawers
Let's start with the easiest items to pack which will be anything that will go into a box. This will be certainly clothing and books. Remember that any heavy items that you have such as books should be packed into smaller boxes, about the size of an average microwave. Be sure to build the boxes properly using masking tape. Use lots of masking tape so that the boxes will stay sealed.
Books are fairly easy to pack since they are fairly symmetrical. You usually don't need any other packing materials besides the boxes when you pack book. Remember, never overfill the boxes and be sure that when you seal them that the top will be sealed and flat. This makes it east for you to stack them and for the movers to load and unload them from the moving truck.
Packing clothing is also simple. If you have any clothing that can be easily damaged or must be hung and not folded, consider purchasing a few wardrobe boxes. Otherwise, standard mid sized boxes (they are about the size of a small dormitory refrigerator) will serve your needs. Sometimes rolling up clothing, linens or towels will save space in the box and in the end you will have fewer boxes. You might also consider using some of your towels or linens as wrapping materials for small breakable items you have in the bedroom.
If your table lamps will fit into the boxes you have, that would be great. If not, you might want to purchase special lamp boxes. Remember to carefully wrap the table lamps before you put them into boxes and avoid any damage. Be sure to label these boxes as lamps and mark the box stating that they are fragile! Free stand lamps can be protected with bubble wrap. You might want to consider removing any glass parts of fixtures of the floor lamps so that they won't be broken.
All of the electronics you have in the bedroom should be boxed. Remember to gather all of the cables for a computer of certain kinds of televisions. Pack them along with the equipment in a way that they can't be damaged. When you pack a table top computer, monitor or a table top television, leave the box open until the movers see how you packed them. Only after they have seen that everything was prepared properly, seal the box. This will help if any insurance problems come up. Bubble wrap your computer monitor or television for extra protection.
Dressers, desks and night stands that have drawers should be emptied prior to your move. What you have in the drawers should be packed into boxes. You certainly don't want to find whatever you have in the drawers scattered all over the place when a drawer flies open. Also this is additional weight for the furniture. For example, most dressers are not designed to be moved when they are full of. It would make it that much heavier and hard to move around. The extra weight can also cause damage the furniture. Why take that chance. Dressers, desks and chairs will be blanket wrapped by the movers. However, it is worth considering extra protection for furniture that can be easily damaged. For some of it, shrink wrap will enough. It would also be a good idea to take flattened out cardboard boxes and wrap them around the furniture for extra protection. Most chairs that you will have in a bedroom will not need special care and the moving blankets that the movers will bring are enough protection.
If you have a standing book case of wall unit in your bedroom, speak with your moving company about it. It might be necessary to disassemble them. If it is necessary, then remember to keep any of the hardware used in the assembly in a place where you will have easy access to it so that it can be reassembled quickly and easily. Keep it in plastic bags. You might even consider taping to the disassembled furniture. If there are glass shelves in the book case or wall unit or you have shelves hanging on the walls containing glass, remember that by law, all glass must be bubble wrapped. This is to protect both the glass and to protect the movers from injury.
The last items that will need to be packed are your beds. Since you will still need your bed to sleep on you won't be able to prepare it for your move until the last minute. Be sure that you have a mattress bag for the mattress. This will help to keep it safe and clean. It is also required by most moving companies. They can be found in any store that sells packing materials. If the frame of the bed can be disassembled, it is worth considering this. If not make sure that it is well protected and won't be damaged. This is especially true if it is made out of wood or Formica.
It's always worth overprotecting your belongings. Moving companies are always willing to offer advice and help about packing. This is always based on many years of experience. Feel free to always ask the movers any questions and for any advice about packing bedrooms. You can find out more at http://www.5movers.com

Workspace Makeover - 5 Simple Ways to Become More Efficient in Your Home Office
OK, so you know I'm going to tell you to clean your workspace and get organized. But, you already figured that one out when you spent a half hour looking for that form you needed and then another 15 minutes trying to find the phone number you put on that green sticky note (or was it on the back of a green envelope?).
Either way, your efficiency is going downhill quickly and you really need to get this work completed today. Working in a home office can become overwhelming sometimes. It's too easy to let things pile up and clutter your workspace until you are confined to six inches of open space on either side of your keyboard. We've all been there with piles of folders, sticky notes, mail, passwords written on random papers, photos, cups, and various other "absolutely must haves" crowding our work environment.
Lamp Tables With Drawers
A cluttered workstation hampers our ability to think clearly and creatively. We become inefficient, mentally as well as physically. We waste time, get confused, overwhelmed and lose our motivation. Our productivity becomes hostage to the mess.
An efficiently organized home office can provide you with the foundation to make more money online because clearing the clutter will help you feel in control, energetic and clear thinking. You'll get more work done, more effectively, and you will make more money.
Here are 5 simple ways to makeover your workspace and become super efficient in the process:
1. Clear out and clean everything. Clutter attracts clutter. Actually schedule time to completely clear off your office desk and surrounding work area. If you have a table nearby, clear that too. Move larger piles into another room until you have time to deal with them. Use a spray cleaner to wash down the desk and table area. Wash windows. Wipe down your computer and keyboard. Take everything off of your bulletin board. Remove from the room all plants and non-work related items like cups, and bottles of water, pictures, do-dads, etc. Do not store boxes of toys, clothes, and old furniture in your office. Toss anything you no longer need. Really make an effort to create an "empty" space.
2. Start Fresh. Open the windows. Arrange your computer or laptop, files, file cabinets, desk supplies in an orderly manner on your clean new desk area. Find a soft lamp to infuse light throughout the room. A very important element to your home office is a comfortable office chair. If you don't have one, now is the time to pamper yourself. If you are comfortable, you will be able to work longer and more efficiently.
3. Go Green. Add plants, move your desk near a window or into a more inspiring location. Set up computers, printers, and all electronics with an energy efficient power strip. Put images of outdoors and nature on your wall.
4. Inspire. On your desk and windowsill, use the power of three to inspire you. Three pictures of kids, friends, family, etc. Three plants to add fresh oxygen to your workspace such as a Money Tree and Lucky Bamboo, and ivy. Three quotes about money and motivation.
5. Less is More. Aim for a Zen quality to your workspace. Only that which you need in the moment should be on your desk. All books and reference materials should be on a bookcase. Everything else goes back to its home (file cabinets, drawers, folders). Take out one project at a time.
Your space reflects your commitment to perform well. At the end of each workday, commit to putting everything away and leaving your workspace neat, clean and ready for productivity the next day. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how much more work you get done. You'll feel less stressed and more motivated to take on additional tasks.
Make a commitment to succeed today.

Essential Baby Nursery Furniture Checklist
Choosing the baby nursery furniture for your baby's new room is fun and exciting. If you are the do-it-yourself type, you may want to get some unfinished pieces and finish them just the way you like by painting, stenciling, adding decals and special knobs. You can also purchase ready to use furniture. While you may be tempted to go on a shopping spree, it is best to make a list of the essential baby nursery furniture that you can't do without.
One of the important things to consider when choosing your baby nursery furniture is how long you expect to use the pieces. You may want to use some pieces for a few years. In that case, choose something that will grow with your baby. The piece of nursery furniture may look great with a baby theme but it may not look good in a child's room. The following information will help you choose the most essential pieces of furniture for a baby nursery:
Lamp Tables With Drawers
Baby Cribs
The baby crib could be the most important piece of nursery furniture. Your baby will spend most of his time in the crib during the first year. A baby crib can cost a few hundred dollars up to over a thousand dollars. If you are on a tight budget, you may want to consider a standard baby crib. On the other hand, if you have a few extra dollars, convertible baby cribs offer great value for the money. A convertible baby bed can be transformed into a toddler bed, day bed, or full size bed when your baby grows up.
You may also prefer a small baby bed such as a cradle, bassinet or Moses basket. Whatever baby bed you choose, make sure it is safe and durable.
Changing Table
Changing baby's diapers can be back-breaking. You will also have to bathe baby, dry him, brush his hair, trim his nails, etc. A changing table will let you do all these in comfort. Choose a table that is just above waist-high, and find one with drawers where you can store baby's diapers and outfits.
Baby Hamper
You will need a baby hamper to keep baby's used outfits. Baby's clothes must be washed separately from the rest of the family laundry. If space is a concern, you can use a laundry bag hung behind the nursery door.
Night Stand
A night stand or table is a very practical piece of baby nursery furniture. You can place a nursery lamp and nightlight on it. Drawers can hold baby's feeding items and keep you organized for night time feedings.
Rocking Chair or Glider
Morning nursing sessions will be a pleasure if you have a rocking chair or glider. This piece of baby nursery furniture comes in different designs and sizes. Find one that is most comfortable for you and you will be able to spend hours of precious bonding time with your little one.
10 Simple Ways You Can Spring Clean Your Whole House
The puddles on the sidewalks are growing and snow is slowly disappearing, the calendar confirms our suspicions that spring is just around the corner. Spring cleaning is a seasonal custom that brings us more than a clean home, it helps us embrace the new season, brings in the fresh air, and helps end the long cold winter. These ten tips will help you refocus on home organization and revive your entire home.
1. Stay Safe: Change the batteries in each of your fire and carbon monoxide alarms. If they aren't in working order replace them. Supply fresh batteries for flashlights on every floor of your home in case of emergency.
Lamp Tables With Drawers
2. Time for a Change of Clothes: Home organization can begin in your closets. Don't just pull winter clothes off the hanger or out of drawers and tuck them away in a Tupperware. As you pack up your heavy winter clothes to make room for your lighter spring outfits assess them and make some choices. Have you worn that item all winter? If not, now might be the time to add it to the donation pile. Don't put away soiled clothes or clothes needing repair to deal with months from now. Go to the drycleaner with your winter coats, sweaters, and pants that can't be machine washed. Sew on any loose buttons and check that all zippers are in working order.
3. Top to Bottom Dusting: Time to get your hands dirty. Cleaning top to bottom prevents you from having to re-clean areas. Use extenders arms for easier reach with your dusting tools and avoid standing on a ladder. The first things to clean are light fixtures and fan blades. Wipe down the top of door casings and window sills. There is a lot of dirt accumulating places that are out of your eye line.
4. Wash Down Walls and Baseboards: It might not be readily visible, but your walls and baseboards have been collecting dirt since last spring also. Dilute all purpose cleaner in a mop bucket and use a sponge to wipe them clean with. The effect of this cleaning product will leave your whole room smelling and feeling cleaner. Open the windows and let in the fresh spring air to finish the job!
5. Dust Table Tops: Clear everything off the tops of your tables and give them a good dusting. Vacuum your lamp shades and make sure that you dust underneath them as well. Is it time to refresh your table tops? Don't put down winter holiday decorations that never got put away, swap out pictures for new photos.
6. Wash and Vacuum Carpets and Upholstery: For months of the year we've been indoors and bringing dirt, salt, and sand back inside when we did find reasons to leave. Floors and furniture have seen the most of dirty boots and salt covered pants. If you don't own a cleaner of your own they can be rented at a number of different locations. Make certain you know how to use the machine before you begin, and if you don't feel confident, consider having someone come and do this for you. Leave carpeting or furniture soaking wet for a long time can invite mold and other issues.
7. Sleep Better! Vacuum and Flip Your Mattress: Break out your light crisp linen sheets and fold up your heavy flannel winter bedding. Clean your winter sheets and blankets before you put them away. For the sake of your home organization and don't continue to store bedding that is too worn or is damaged and won't be used again next fall or winter.
8. Put out the Welcome Mat, Literally: Give your entry mats a good shake, or replace them entirely for new spring designs. Wash or shake out your entry way rugs too, winter grime has left its' mark on them. Gone are the dirty boots, prepare for the days of sandals.
9. Time for Patio Parties: Soon you will be enjoying your grill and patio again. It's time to break out the outdoor furniture and soap them down. Wash the dirt and cobweb from storage away and air out any cushions you have in storage. Give everything a good look over is anything damaged? You don't want summer guests falling through broken chairs!
10. Bring on the Sunshine: The heart of every spring cleaning checklist is cleaning windows. Don't forget about window treatments they need to be cleaned just as much as the glass and screens. Wipe down your blinds with a rag and diluted all purpose cleaner. It's not as difficult to clean curtains or drapes as you may think, many window treatments are machine washable, look at yours!
Feel refreshed after a long winter keep home organization in mind while you do your spring cleaning. Projects in the year to come will be easier to accomplish with a clean and organized home.
Why Buy A Round Coffee Table Or A Small Coffee Table?
When looking for a small coffee table or a round coffee table you need to first decide what the table is to be used for. Another consideration is where you will be placing your table and what size is your home and lastly what size is your budget. Finding the right piece of furniture to fill an empty space in a small room, and still be functional, a round coffee table or a small coffee table may be what you are looking for.
If you require the table to be a functional piece of furniture you will need it to be big enough to provide a place for coffee cups, bottles or snacks for every member of your family. A small coffee table or a round coffee table may not be big enough and you should consider a long rectangular table or two small square coffee tables. This decision of course rests on how many family members you have.
Lamp Tables With Drawers
A round coffee table or a small coffee table may fit nicely into the junction of an 'L'-shaped sofa, but it can also fit neatly near a wall and serve as an end table, depending on its size.
How Else Can You Benefit From Your Coffee Table?
There are other ways to benefit from your small coffee table or your round coffee table apart from providing a place to put your drink. They can be used to place a lamp or even used for card games. Children also benefit from a small coffee table and also round coffee tables as they can use them as a meal table or a games table as they are low.
The size, color and material of your small coffee table can be almost anything you desire. It can be made from wood, glass or metal and in any size. A large round coffee table would be best suited to a large room. Whether made of steel, plastic or wood a round coffee table or a small coffee table may also be fitted with a drawer or shelf underneath it, to hold magazines or childrens' games such as cards, tiddlywinks and dominos. These tables can also be used to display a clock or an ornament, the list is endless.
